District Description: The North Slope Borough School District is located entirely above the Arctic Circle and operates eleven schools in eight villages. District offices are in Barrow. The outlying villages each have one school that serves students from K3/K4 (ages 3 and 4)to grade 12. Four schools have student populations of less than 100 students, three have student populations ranging from 100 to 250 students, and Barrow has an elementary, middle, high, and alternative school. The elementary school has over 500 students, the middle and high school have 200 and 260 students respectively, and the alternative high school serves nearly 50 students.
